Bringing Kim's Loves Park Deck Back to Life
After
BeforeNot every deck we touch is a disaster, and Kim's place in Loves Park is proof that the right prep and the right coat can take a tired deck from “needs love” to “best on the block.”
Kim had already done a lot of the hard, dirty work herself by scraping back the old, failing finish. We're always glad when a homeowner wants to pitch in, and it knocked real money off her price. From there, we came in to do what we do best.
The trouble spots got a careful spot-prime with Peel Bond, a bonding primer that locks down stubborn peeling paint so it stays put under the new finish. Kim ended up falling in love with it once she saw how it smoothed everything out. Honest tip from us: skipping primer on a peeling deck is how you end up redoing it a year later.
The job started as a single coat, but Kim and Dave decided to upgrade to two, and we always back that call. A second coat means deeper color, more even coverage, and a finish that stands up longer to our Illinois freeze-thaw seasons.
All in, it was roughly 400 square feet of deck plus 40 feet of railings, done in two days. Kim and Dave told us they were blown away by the work ethic and the quality, which is exactly the reaction we're after on every single job.
